A couple of weeks ago it was revealed that Microsoft plans to fire 10,000 employees by the end of the current fiscal year. Among all those affected, are studies workers such as 343 Industries, Bethesda, The Coalition, and more. Given this, Phil Spencer, Chief of Xbox, has defended this decision. In a recent interview with IGN, Spencer said that he not only has a commitment to Xbox workers, but also with Microsoft shareholders and, in some cases, these two positions are opposite. This was what he commented:
At this time, there are some issues in which we have to work, and part of that is to ensure that we have the right resources in the right places to do the best job. Sometimes, that means that we have to make some assignments, in this case, some reductions, and I do not take it lightly, because the impact on people is real.
But I think it is important for us, for the biggest organization here, that place this business in the best stable position that we can for what we need to move forward, which in the end should create a better place for the great members of the team that are here. Along with this, Spencer has pointed out that he has not done a good job at the time of creating a safe space for all Xbox employees. At the moment the amount of dismissals in this Microsoft division is unknown, but this has caused a series of controversies, especially related to 343 industries. In related issues, the price of Xbox Series X | s will increase in Japan. Similarly, Xbox wants to know if the public is still interested in Infinite Halo. Editor's note: Phil Spencer is in a complicated position.
The recent dismissals have made it clear that the Executive is not as friendly as it has always been represented and, at the end of the day, this is still a business, with all the good and bad that this means. Via: IG
